Semester 1, 2025

The Journal of Professional Learning (JPL) is produced by the Centre for Professional Learning on the lands of the Gadigal people who we acknowledge as the Traditional Custodians of this Country. We pay respects to Elders past and present, and celebrate the traditions, lore, and living cultures of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Elders have been educators since time immemorial. As teachers, we walk in their footsteps.

The Centre for Professional Learning (CPL) delivers high quality, research-based professional learning exclusively for Federation members across a range of pedagogical and curriculum-based areas. Courses and conferences are conducted in-person, as well as online.

We are committed to disseminating a wide range of educational resources, reflection, and research for the benefit of teachers and the public education community. The JPL is an important element of these resources, reflection, and research.

Reading the JPL can contribute towards maintenance of your accreditation, simply read a JPL article and then, either discuss it with your colleagues or use it to enhance your pedagogy in order to create “positive change and impact on student or child learning progress and achievement” (NESA).

This issue of the JPL introduces an exciting new section, In Focus, where we explore specific topics in depth. In this edition we dive into the issue of women in history, particularly those women who have seemingly been forgotten by history.
